CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

About the Role
Based in Avondale, the Category Buyer will manage a cost-effective & timely delivery of consumables, tools, materials and parts as required for production. You will work cross-functionally with suppliers, project managers, production team, and local stakeholders.
This person will also have the opportunity to optimise the operations and day to day running of their role striving for operational excellence.
To excel at this role you will be proactive, a strong problem solver, and highly organised.
A can-do attitude and eagerness to learn will be required.

 

What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to ensure raw materials & consumables are available at all times to meet the production plan.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure they meet quality, cost and delivery requirements, and ensure that price lists are up to date.
  • Own and grow strong business relationship’s between Southern Spars and the Supplier.
  • Maintain Purchase Order data within our ERP system, and ensuring that PO’s are being sent, and delivered In Full, On Time.
  • Have a continuous improvement mentality, search out new ways of working and new supplier opportunities.
  • Contribute to new ideas and to the team culture.

 

What are we looking for?
In order to be successful for this position, we are looking for a motivated individual with:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, you approach your work in a methodical way.
  • An avid problem solver, you will think laterally to solve problems.
  • Experience in procurement / purchasing is preferred.
  • Relevant tertiary education is preferred.
  • Intermediate level skill of MS office, experience with ERP systems is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Easy-going, capable of working independently and as a team.
  • Motivated to achieve results and contribute to new ideas.
