Southern Spars and Volvo Ocean Race – Moving Ahead

The relationship between Southern Spars and the Volvo Ocean Race continues to grow, and we look forward to being the rig supplier for the next event. We recently had a visit from Nick Bice, head of the Boat Yard, the sector of race management responsible for running and maintaining the fleet of Volvo Ocean 65s. Nick made a special trip to our head office to discuss the plans for the next race and how Southern Spars can continue to grow our involvement in this spectacular event.

“An important process of each Volvo Ocean Race to ensure that a de-brief process is undertaken. With the Volvo Ocean 65 continuing to sail in the next edition of The Volvo Ocean Race, it is more important than ever to ensure we get the boats back on the start line and be as reliable as they were during this edition of the race. Myself, Mark Hauser, Lance Manson and Jarrad Wallace undertook this process during August over a two day period. All parties were really happy with the rigs developed for the Volvo Ocean 65. We look forward to continuing our relationship going forward. With partners like Southern Spars, the future is bright for The Boatyard and The Volvo Ocean Race.”
